Your First Visit

We know the first appointment at a new dental office can feel like a lot. Here's exactly what to expect so you can walk in feeling prepared.

What to bring

  • Your dental insurance card and a valid photo ID
  • A list of any medications you currently take
  • Any relevant dental records or X-rays from a previous provider, if available
  • Completed new patient forms (we'll send these ahead of your visit so you can fill them out at home)

If you have any questions about what to bring, just call us before your appointment and we'll point you in the right direction.

What to expect when you arrive

You'll be greeted by a team member who is ready for you. Not on the phone, not behind a screen — just there to welcome you in. We'll offer you water, get you settled, and make sure you're comfortable before anything else happens.

We also handle the financial side of things before your appointment begins. That means we'll go over your insurance coverage and give you a cost estimate upfront. No surprises at checkout.

If you have a comfort preference, this is the time to mention it. Blankets, pillows, and the TV remote are all yours.

In the chair

Your first visit typically includes:

  • A full oral exam
  • Digital X-rays
  • Intraoral photos taken with a small camera
  • An oral cancer screening

Everything we find will be shown to you on the screen in your room. We'll walk through your X-rays and photos together so you can see exactly what we see. Nothing gets decided without your understanding and input.

Meeting your dentist

Dr. Reid and Dr. Monika both take time to get to know new patients before diving into recommendations. This isn't a rushed handoff. You'll have a real conversation about your dental history, any concerns you have, and what you're hoping to get out of your care here.

If you're nervous about the dentist, tell us. We have options ranging from laughing gas to oral sedation and IV sedation, and we'd rather know upfront so we can make your visit as comfortable as possible.

Treatment planning

Once your exam is complete, we'll put together a treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals. We'll go over every recommendation in plain language, explain why each item is being suggested, and give you a clear picture of costs and timing.

You'll never feel pressured to move forward with everything at once. We'll work with you to prioritize what matters most and build a plan that fits your schedule and budget.

Checkout and follow-up

Before you leave, we'll schedule your next appointment, answer any remaining questions, and make sure you have everything you need. If treatment was discussed, we'll send you home with a written plan so you can review it at your own pace.

Our team is always reachable if something comes up after your visit. Give us a call and we'll take care of it.
